awake and breathless

Here I sit again, wide awake in the middle of the night. Only this time it has nothing to do with being pregnant. I'm having a slight asthma attack. Unfortunately for my my wonderful little son has taken my inhaler and stashed it somewhere. He does this quite often, but I normally watch him to see what he has done with it. However, this morning I let my husband watch him upstairs while I got breakfast ready. He doesn't remember seeing Josiah with the inhaler, he doesn't remember what areas of the upstairs he was playing in or where it could possibly be. He didn't really help look for it either.

I'm not really sure what to do. I've torn apart the entire upstairs except for Josiah's room, and I'm pretty sure that he has stashed it somewhere in his toybox. I'm pretty sure that the pharmacy is closed and even if it were open I don't know my perscription number (since it was stuck to the inhaler). I'm currently drinking a cup of coffee which is supposed to open up your lungs, however it doesn't seem to be working, and even if it did work I would then probably be up due to the caffeine. The worst part is that the more I think about it the more I can't breathe. But what else are you supposed to think about at 2 in the morning when you can't breathe?

I'm not going to go to the ER because I know it's not severe enough to kill me right now. It's just annoying enough that I can't lay down to sleep. I dealt with this sort of an attack many times (for almost two years) before they successfully diagnosed me with asthma and found me an inhaler that works. And ya know, if I'd only been taking my daily inhaler than I wouldn't even be dealing with this in the first place. But of course, Josiah lost that too.

Here's to hoping that I will fall asleep before the sun comes up..
